PIREP: X-Plane and the G1000 NXi Desktop Trainer

The Garmin G1000 is the heart of most Diamond Aircraft, particularly if you are flying IFR. The NXi version of the G1000 is even more sophisticated with additional features. In many respects it is overwhelming and rivals (and, in some respects, exceeds) the capabilities found on modern airline transport and business jet aircraft.

To fully understand the capabilities of this avionics package while safely on the ground and not burning fuel, a desktop simulator complete with replica displays and controls is a helpful training aid. Tow the Line

While our Diamond aircraft are quite nimble in the air, a wide wingspan and free-castering nosewheel make it a bit less maneuverable on the ground without the right tools. Tugs and winches are a big plus and can potentially prevent expensive repairs or personal injuries.
