The Diamond Pilots Association (DPA) is pleased to announce the agreement with Vyzerion AI to provide digital engine analysis for Diamond aircraft.
Engine analysis is an invaluable tool to monitor the health of the engine by collecting the digital engine data provided by the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) then processing it against other engines to detect trends in engine wear. These trends could point to an intervention to prevent a serious event from occurring or it could be used to extend the life of a component or the engine itself beyond its nominal life.
Engine trend monitoring has been used for decades in commercial (airline and corporate) aviation and military applications. With more and more general aviation aircraft being equipped with digital recording devices, this means of understanding the wear of the engine has become more and more common.
The DPA – Vyzerion AI collaboration is initially intended for the Austro engine versions of Diamond aircraft. This program can be extended to other Diamond aircraft with Lycoming and Continental engines in the future.
This program could not be possible without the co-operation and assistance of Austro Engines of Wiener-Neustadt, Austria. Austro has provided both management support and direction but has also provided engineering assistance to aid in the development of this program.
Members of the Diamond Pilots Association receive a 50% discount for engine analysis time; $5 USD compared to the normal $10 per hour USD charge. Uploading engine data is unlimited, free and desired as it provides a larger base of engine performance for the engine models; it is only when one seeks to have the engine data analyzed that a charge in incurred.
For example, one could upload 100 hours of engine data (that between 100 hour inspections, for example) at no cost. If one wants to have the engine performance of the last flight, say 1.2 hours, a charge of $6 USD would be incurred.

The introduction of an on-conditioning engine monitoring system is a significant achievement for Diamond aircraft owners. Having the support of the engine manufacturer, Austro Engines, is particularly significant for a general aviation aircraft and engine.
